1. Starting Point
How much did you know about Web design, HTML and CSS Layout when you started?
To be completely honest, I barely had knowleage of html and css. I had learned some basics from online tutorials.
2. Ending Point
How comfortable are you with Web Design, HTML and CSS Layout now?
I think now I know what I'm capable of creating and what I'm not. I still have to compromise my design and a vision for a page, but I'm more comfortable manipulating layout. When I look at so many great web site out there, I realize there is much more to learn. However, now I can tell how they construct a certain type of web pages when I see them.
3. Class Materials
How do you feel about the books and videos that we used in class? Was it helpful for you? Do you have any suggestions for other methods or materials - or a wish list of what you would like to have seen?
Videos were incredibly helpful. Just because I'm more of a visual learner, just watching where to click and how those instructors developing a page can make a difference for me. The book was great as well. I only read it online but I loved that I could copy and paste the code to try it out myself.
4. Something That Was the Hardest for You
What part of taking this class was the most difficult for you?
Designing what I'm capable of creating while not forgetting the usability. It's easy for me to enlarge my vision for a page beyond what I can handle, so containing my design for usability was the hard part.
5. Something That Was the Easiest
What part of taking this class was the easiest for you?
I liked the course structure. It was consistent and not so complicated. I was able to deepen my understanding gradually. Once I got used to hove to submit the assignments and ask quetions, it was nice that I can go back to previous assigments and fulfill what I left out.
6. Support
Do you have suggestions for ways that I can support students more fully - especially in what you think are the most difficult parts of the class.
To me the feedback you gave for each assignment was on point and very helpful. Suggestions for what I could do to make what I'm trying to do really opens my mind as well. Examples on class notes helped a lot too, so I would say definitely keep them.
7. One Thing You Have Learned
If you had to pick one thing, what would you say is the most important thing you've learned this semester?
A carefully planned mockup can help. I am the type of person who jump right in and explore. That personality caused pain a lot in this course. Especially, when I was working with a fluid layout, things went pretty messy.
8. Anything Else
What else would you like to say?
I had fun creating pages. A lot of things was new for me and overwhelming at first, but I found myself spending hours trying to figure out what can be done to make a page better while enjoying it.
I'm exited for a next step. Thank you so much.
